NEW YORK (AP) – What’s in a name? A lot says Jay-Z and a business partner and because of that, they are taking Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz to court.
The rapper is suing the man Sox fans call “Big Papi” because they claim he named his Dominican nightclub after Jay-Z’s chain of 40/40 clubs.
The suit claims by Ortiz calling his club by the same name as the rapper, he’s trying to make money off the rapper’s fame.
The clubs are named after players who hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a season.
Jay-Z’s bars are found in Manhattan, Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
No comment last night from the agency that reps Ortiz.
