Michael Jordan will be on the cover of NBA 2K11. Take that, Kobe!
“We’ve made a lot of progress over the past 10 years, but we know we have the best NBA video game ever made here,” Jason Argent, 2K Sports’ vice president of marketing, told CNBC. “So we thought to ourselves how can we embody that and there was only one person on that list who we wanted to have and that was Michael Jordan. Actually getting this done is the most ridiculous win of all-time.”
You saw what he did there? He just said “best ever.” That means he thinks MJ is the best ever. Not Kobe. Take that again, Kobe! BYAH!
I’m a little pumped for this — not necessarily because MJ will now definitely be on the cover, but because he also might be in the game. If they manage to apply the whole “Signature Play” thing to his character, then I will undoubtedly go ape sh*t. I’ll finally be able to be like Mike… digitally! And no, NBA Street doesn’t count.
Here’s what MJ, or MJ’s publicist (who knows?), had to say about it in a statement.
“It’s an honor to be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11,” the statement said. “I have no doubt that NBA 2K11 will be a big hit with gamers and basketball fans alike. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the court, virtually.”
